Agnes Winters

June 29, 1920 — March 8, 2011

Born June 29, 1920 to James and Mary Becvar in Brocket, ND. Raised on a dairy farm with 1 brother and 8 sisters, Agnes graduated from business college before moving to Washington, DC where she worked for the War Department and met her husband Stanley. They settled in Berwyn Heights, MD, where she spent her life as a homemaker raising their 3 children Peggy (Arendes) of Fairfield, CA, Karen (Hochman) of Plainfield, NJ, and Eileen Winters of Silver Spring, MD. She was a faithful volunteer at The Crippled Children's Society and a long time active member of Mt. Rainier Christian Church (where she was voted Mother of the Year) and of University Christian Church in Hyattsville, MD. She was a 12 year resident of Hillhaven Nursing Center of Adelphi, MD, where she was lovingly cared for.

She was predeceased by her husband Stanley P. Winters. She is survived by her three daughters (see above), 5 grandchildren Gregory, Brian, Paul, Carolyn and Michelle Arendes, and three great grandchildren Bridgette and Jesse Krause and Braden Arendes. Also survived by her two sisters Alice Thompson of San Luis Obispo, CA and Josephine Zaeske of Fargo, ND.

A memorial service will be held at 10AM, Saturday, March 12th at University Christian Church, 6800 Adelphi Rd., Hyattsville, MD. 20782. Donations may be made in her memory to University Christian Church.
