Albert Wayne Robinson, 73, of Hyattsville, Maryland, passed away on October 10, 2016 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
A memorial service will be held from 3:00 - 5:00 pm on Saturday, the 29th of October, 2016 at Gasch's Funeral Home, located at 4739 Baltimore Ave., Hyattsville, MD 20781.
Wayne was born in Washington, DC to Albert and Nora Robinson on December 15, 1942. He attended Northwestern High School and served as a firefighter in Hyattsville, Maryland. He completed police academy training and went on to serve 28 years as a patrol officer with the Maryland National Capital Park Police Department. During that time, he rose through the ranks and retired as a lieutenant. Following his retirement from the police force, he spent 15 years as an armed security officer with both the National Archives and the United States Department of Justice. Wayne concluded this position at the rank of sergeant.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 42 years, Judy Robinson, his daughter, Merideth (Robinson) Burton, her husband Don Burton, his sisters: Millie Smith and Ruth Boyd, his brother-in-law Bill Smith, his grandchildren: Jackson Wayne and Lily Anne Marie Burton, and his step-grandchildren: Isaac, Sarah and Madeline Burton.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Wayne's name may be given to the local Fraternal Order of Police.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to West Chester, Ohio EMS personnel, the staff of the Emergency Department at West Chester Hospital, and the staff of the Emergency Department and the Neuro Science Intensive Care Unit (4 South) of the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for their respectful and loving care of Wayne in his final days.
