Alfonso Robert (Action Al) Caporaletti, Jr. passed away Sunday, July 2, 2023. He was the owner of Action Al’s Tire Company in Washington, DC for over 60 years. Al was born May 5, 1931, the 4th child of Alfonso Sr and Josephine Caporaletti, in Washington DC.
Al was raised in the tire business as his father started his own business in 1917. He loved going to Stock car races and football games and having friends and family over to his home. Al never retired, as he loved going to work and working with his children and grandchildren at his shop. He only stopped working in December 2022 when his body would not let him work anymore.
He was pre-deceased by his parents, Alfonso and Josephine, his sisters, Rose Celia Borzi and Jeanette Harrison, and his brothers, Louis Caporaletti, Sr. and Alfred Caporaletti. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Lola, his dog, Coco, his sons, Gary, wife Cathy, and David, wife Jacque, his daughter, Lori Blair, husband Gary, his sisters, Grace Callegari and Linda Caporaletti, his grandchildren, Priscilla Caporaletti-Bean, Cassandra Rugile, husband Alex, Robert Caporaletti, Christopher Caporaletti and Gene Blair, his great grandchildren, Isabella Rugile, and Arianna Rugile and many nieces and nephews.
Viewings will be held at Gasch’s Funeral Home, 4739 Baltimore Avenue, Hyattsville, MD on Friday, July 7 at 2-4pm and 6 to 8pm. Funeral services will be at Gasch’s at 11am Saturday, July 8, with interment at Fort Lincoln Cemetery immediately following the ceremony.
