Betty Smith

Betty Jo Smith, age 86, went home to be with lord on Sunday May 29th, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones. Born December 18th, 1935 in Concord, North Carolina to Robert and Nita Moose. Betty, the eldest of 4 girls grew up in Concord at her family home. She married shortly after Graduation in 1954 and began her life in Washington DC in 1955 where she proceed to have two sons. Betty regarded her time raising her boys and living in their home on 66th Ave in Hyattsville as one of the happiest times in her life, filled with lots of football, basketball, baseball, and car racing. As the years went on Betty was blessed with Grandchildren and great Grandchildren whom she adored. Betty was a loved and cherished Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Friend, and child of God. She was a truly kind and loving soul who could light up a room with her smile or shut it down with a game of cards. Her passion for life, the lord, and her family were evident in every interaction with her. Her words say it best, “Earth is my journey but Heaven is my Home”. She will truly be missed. She is survived by her Sons Robert Smith and wife Ann, Danny Smith and wife Michelle. Grandchildren Steven Smith and wife Val, Angela Defayette and husband Joe, Eric Smith and wife Rachel, Michael Smith, and Matthew Smith. Great Grandchildren Riley, Isabella and Lily. Her infamous sign off one last time “Remember to Smile God loves you.”
