Carolyn Rimmer, 83, a secretary for the Department of Transportation and a community volunteer went to be with the Lord May 21 at the Atrium at the Village at Penn State in State College, Pennsylvania. She suffered from pulmonary complications.

Mrs. Rimmer lived in University Park, Maryland for 51 years. In June 200 she moved to Riderwood Village in Silver Spring where she resided until moving to State College, Pa. in 2004.

Mrs. Rimmer worked as a secretary for the Department of Transportation during the 1970's. She was an active volunteer in many organizations including the American Association of University Women, the Adelphi Presbyterian Church, the Birdwatcher's Club of Riderwood Village, and the OASIS Club of Prince George's Plaza. She enjoyed tutoring reading students in the Prince George's County School System. She was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta Fraternity for 60 years.

Mrs. Rimmer was born in Brookings, South Dakota. Her family relocated to Washington, D.C. where she graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 1946 from George Washington University.

Loving mother of Jim Rimmer (Debbie), Susan Margolis (Terry) and Tom Rimmer; Grandmother of Jordan (Mandy) Rimmer, Bree Ann Rimmer, Gideon Rimmer, Ethan Margolis, Eli Margolis, Micah Margolis, Jake Margolis and Kymberly Rimmer; two great grandchildren, Jayden Rimmer and Morgan Rimmer. Preceded in death by husband, James Stephen Rimmer.
