Claire Elizabeth Dalaker

On Saturday, September 8, 2018, of Silver Spring, Maryland.  Loving mother of Joseph P. (Helen Starkweather) Dalaker, mother-in-law of Denise Dalaker, grandmother of Gage, Evan, and Amy Dalaker.  Beloved sister of Ed Tonry and Kay (Norman) Poirier.  She was preceded in death by her son, Michael J. Dalaker, and her husband, Hans Dalaker.

Claire graduated from St. Mary’s High School, Taunton, Massachusetts, in 1958.  While attending nursing school she met her soon-to-be-husband, then serving in the USAF on Cape Cod.  They married in June 1962 and moved to Bayshore, New York, where they lived for nearly 52 years.

Claire worked as a nurse at Syosset Hospital on Long Island until the birth of her eldest son.  She was active in St. Anne’s Parish in Brentwood, New York, as a teacher of after-school religious education classes, and later as a parish secretary.

Interment private.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Malta House, 4916 LaSalle Road, Hyattsville MD 20782.  http://www.victoryhousing.org
