Clara Chambers

On Thursday, February 11, 2021, at 5:46 am, Clara Margie Chambers, beloved great grandmother, grandmother, mother, sister, and aunt passed away in her bed at home surrounded by family at the age of 84.

Claire was born on June 14, 1936 to John and Margie Sheets in Tazewell, Virginia. She was the oldest of four girls and learned early on to be the caregiver we all know and love. At the age of 16, she married her true love, Jay Lake Chambers, and eventually moved to Landover Hills where they had six children together starting with Pamela Suann Chase, John Alexander Opie Chambers, Rita Mae Peck, Jay Lake Chambers Jr., Early Joseph Chambers, and Tracy Lee Chambers.  Widowed at 34 years old, Clara managed to raise her children and stay in close touch with her stepdaughter, Dort Hahnert,  living in Germany whom she loved very much .

Claire was a very strong loving dedicated woman who overcame all obstacles with confidence and determination, especially when it came to her family and their well-being. She is survived by her three eldest children Pamela Chase, John Alexander Opie Chambers, and O’Rita Mae Peck. She was loved dearly by her entirely family which included 11 grandchildren and 18 great grand children. She will truly be missed by all.

A private funeral service for family only will be held at Faith Independent Baptist Church, 7700 Northern Avenue, Glenn Dale, MD 20769 on Friday, February 26 at 10:30 am. A livestream of the service can be watched on Facebook via this link:
