David Anthony Hogan

November 28, 1939 — June 12, 2024

Beltsville

David Anthony Hogan was born in Bridgeport, CT, November 28, 1939, to Joseph and Dorothy Hogan. The family moved from New England to Silver Spring, MD in 1946, and soon settled in the Green Meadows neighborhood of Hyattsville, MD, where David made life-long friends growing up.

David’s hobbies were sports, gardening and cooking. He was a true Washington Nationals, Maryland Terps, and Washington Commanders fan. He had a beautiful vegetable garden for most of his life. He loved to share the vegetables with neighbors and friends. If a friend or family member was sick, he was sure to show up with some good home-made comfort food. At the holidays, he might share his 1 Cup Cookies, or his incredible pound cake. David dearly loved his three dogs: Madison, Jake and Cooper. David enjoyed living at Maryland Farms and served as President of the Board. He was also Chairperson of the Election Committee.”

David graduated from Archbishop John Carroll High School in Washington, DC in 1958, a school run by the Augustinian Fathers. He entered the Augustinian Seminary shortly after High School. David was a proud graduate of Villanova University and was an avid Wildcat fan.

David left the seminary in 1966 and eventually started his long career in the Property and Casualty business for the Home Insurance Company. He was a Loss Control Inspector and earned his Associated in Risk Management (ARM) degree, and his Certified Property and Casualty Underwriter designation (CPCU) while working for The Home.

He leaves his significant other, Mary Washington, and siblings Joseph Hogan (Mary), Marion Vecchiarelli (John), Rillus Hogan, Dorothy Bradford, and Patricia Becker (Paul), and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Ella Marstaller, and his brother, Daniel Hogan.

Services for David will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Beltsville, Maryland on July 1, 2024 at 10 am with burial immediately following at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Donations in David's name may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
