David Torgerson

David Alf Torgerson

May 19, 1946 – August 24, 2024

David was born in Minnesota to Laura Charlotte and Alf Henry Torgerson. He graduated from De LaSalle High School in 1964 and the College of St. Thomas in 1968. He went on to earn a graduate degree in Economics at the University of Maryland. 

He met Judy in draft counseling, and they married in 1971. David and Judy had four children: Jesse, Laura Jean, Amy, and Eric. Judy died in 2007 and he lived as a widower for over 17 years.

David was a lifelong Catholic and an involved parishioner of St. Ambrose Catholic Church for 46 years. He had a long career working for the Economic Research Service of the USDA.

He is survived by his children, six grandchildren, and his brother, Ron (Vigi) Torgerson.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Ambrose Catholic Church on September 21, 2024 at 9:30AM with a reception to follow at the home of Eric Torgerson, 3027 Lake Avenue Cheverly, MD 20785. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Ambrose chapter of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society, 6301 Jason Street, Cheverly, MD 20785, Greenpeace USA, or the  Palestine Children's Relief Fund.
