Della Lee (Swecker) Maschauer, 96, went to be with her heavenly Father and reunite with her beloved husband of 65 years, Bernard, on January 2, 2022.
Della was born in Huttonsville, West Virginia, on March 20, 1925 to Orion and Isabella (Rush) Swecker. She graduated from Belington High School, in Belington, West Virginia. On November 19, 1949, she married Bernard (Bernie) Ralph Maschauer in Belington, West Virginia. They welcomed two children into their home, Marilyn and Carl.
Della was predeceased by her husband, sisters, Anna Mae Channel, Margaret (Peg) Charlton, Josephine (Joy) Wink and Connie Hickey, and grandson, Jeremy Adams. She is survived by her brothers Richard Swecker (Ann), Jennings Swecker and Robert Swecker (Simone), her daughter, Marilyn Goodwin, son, Carl Maschauer (Leslie) grandchildren Brian Lee Schallberger (Roxanne), Lora Lee Jaquith (Stephen) and Kris Adams (Mindy), great grandchildren Zayne Lee Schallberger, Austin and Ryan Morris, Kellan, Kasen, McKinley and Madison Adams, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her faith in God, and trust in Christ as her savior, served as the cornerstone for a life well lived. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in South Daytona Beach prior to relocating to South Carolina.
She enjoyed knitting, cooking and baking for her family and friends, and playing Uno with her family. She will always be remembered for her welcoming smile and will be dearly missed by family, friends and all who knew her.
Celebration of Life services will be held at Gasch’s Funeral Home, 4739 Baltimore Avenue, Hyattsville, MD with day and time to be announced. Her nephew, Pastor Kevin Channel, will officiate. Interment will be at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, Maryland.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Brookdale Senior Living - Conway for the loving care and dedication given during the past two years and the Agape Care Hospice team who cared for and tended to her the last few weeks.
