Donald "Don" Eugene Irwin of Silver Spring, Maryland died at home April 22nd, 2023 surrounded by his family and friends after a year long battle of Stage 4 Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He is survived by his wife Susan, daughter Sarah Marie and extended family.
Born May 2nd, 1960 to Nancy and Bill Irwin of Hyattsville, Maryland, Don grew up in Hyattsville alongside his younger sister Deborah. He graduated from University of Maryland in 1983 in Industrial Engineering. Don worked at Quality Window and Door for 32 years as a Purchasing Agent, having earned the Lifetime Achievement award for 30 years of Excellence. He met his wife Susan "Sue" in 1990, marrying in 1995. Their daughter Sarah Marie was born May 3rd, 2000; Don's "favorite birthday present".
Don's biggest passions were that of his family, cooking and writing. So much so, that he curated his own books of his work, under the name of Lex the Pen. These writings permeate the Irwin home, filling the bookshelves that line their walls.
Funeral services for Don will take place May 13th, 2023 at First United Methodist Church of Hyattsville. The viewing will take place from 9-11, the service at 11 and his burial at Fort Lincoln Cemetery at 12:30.
Don will be dearly missed by his family and friends, as he was a bright light to those who knew him.
