Doris Elizabeth Gruber Mullings, cherished and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, friend, community activist, musician, writer and community theater company founder, joined our heavenly father on November 2nd, 2020. Doris was born February 17th, 1925 in Savannah, GA to Albion and Norma Gruber as the second child to sister Norma and younger brothers Albion & Bill. She moved to Baltimore to attend Mercy Hospital Nursing School and worked as a nurse at Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, DC where she met and married John Mullings in 1950. She later worked at Prince George's County Hospital and the private practice of Dr. Frederick Musser in Landover Hills where the Mullings family lived for nearly 40 years. She finished her nursing career serving residents at Magnolia Gardens Nursing Home in Lanham, MD. She is predeceased by her husband John (1921-1992) and is survived by 9 children - John (Jan), Norma, Kathleen, Priscilla, Peter, Margaret, Paul (Kim), James (Etsegenet) and Cecilia (Michael). She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, with a few more on the way.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 7th, 2020 at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, MD in the Garden of Eternal Life.
