Dorothy Ann (Delahay) Leahy, of Gaithersburg, MD, formerly of Washington, D.C., passed away on Friday, June 5th. Dorothy was the daughter of the late Veva Leach Delahay and George Wilmer Delahay. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald M. Leahy, grandson Thomas E. Huggins, brothers George W. Delahay and James Delahay, sister Eleanor M. Delahay and friend, F. William Harrison. She is survived by her daughter, Donna (Leahy) Huggins of Silver Spring, two sisters, Teeny Kennett of Avenue and Lois Russell of Compton; nine nieces and nephews, many great nieces and great nephews. Dorothy graduated from Immaculate Conception Academy in Washington, D.C. and she subsequently was employed by the law ofices of Raphael Semmes, Doctors Community Hospital and the law offices of Meyers, Rodbell & Rosenbaum. Dorothy worked diligently for over 50 years in the Washington Metropolitan area, however, her love and a piece of her heart remains in St. Mary's County. In retirement, Dorothy enjoyed spending time with family and friends, embroidering and working crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She will be remembered for her patient, caring and friendly manner. The family will receive friends at GASCH'S FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 4739 Baltimore Avenue, Hyattsville, MD on Wednesday, June 10 from 10 to 11 a.m. with a prayer service to begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, MD following the service.
