Dorothy Anna (Morgan) Ringer was born in Vikarabad, Deccan, India on November 16, 1917, and went home to be with the Lord on March 23, 2013 in Waldorf, MD.
She was the second child of missionary parents. Her father, Rev. Walter Leslie Morgan, and her mother, teacher, Mercedith Bankerd Allen Morgan, were assigned to the J.L. Crawford Boys'School in India. In 1920 she and her sister Margaret accompanied their parents when they returned to the United States.
They settled in Pittsburgh, PA where Dorothy attended and graduated from Schenley High School in 1935. She attended one year at Allegheny College in Meadeville, PA.
Depression-era economics forced a change of direction for Dorothy. As a result she entered Nursing School at West Penn Hospital. After graduation in 1940, she served as an RN in the operationg room. She met Dr. Edward L. Ringer at the hospital and were married in 1942. WWII was raging, and soon Dr. ringer was called to serve as Captain setting up ear, nose and throat clinics for President Eisenhower in the U.S. Army Medical Corps. She was a loyal wife of "her doctor." He set up his own private practice. Dorothy often became his office nurse which included begin his surgical nurse in the operating room.
Dorothy and Ed lived in Pittsburgh, PA, Clearwater, FL, Lincoln, IL, Springfield, OH, Lansing, MI and Columbus, OH. She was blessed with three children, one daughter named Carol and two sons named John and James. James (43 y) died on March 8, 1996.
She is survived by her son John and his wife, Diane; their children Joy, Jonathan, Rosa-lin and her husband Karl Nebia; as well as daughter Carol, her husband, John Curry, and grandson Brian Johnson.
Dorothy served as president of the women's auxiliary of the Clark County Medicla Society and enjoyed gardenng, horticulture, and flower arranging as well as entertaining guests. She became a judge for flower arranging competitions. She loved going to organ concerts with her family.
In 1994, her husband, Dr. Edward Ringer, died. Dorothy sold her home in Columbus, OH, and made their vacation home a permanent one. Because of the challenges of advancing age, in 2004 she came to live with her son, John and daughter-in-law, Diane, in MD. She would make yearly visits to the land of Hiawatha in the final decade of her life.
On February 14, 2013, she fell and broke her left femur. Although she had successful surgery, she lacked the endurance to pursue the challenges of rehabilitation. She then entered an assisted living facility where she was aided by hospice until her homegoing at 8:15pm on March 23, 2013.
Her Lord and Savior called her home in a peaceful sleep after listening to her last lullaby, "Jesus Love Me" sung by her daughter-in-law, Diane.
