Edward L. Gray, 80, of Clearwater, Florida, passed away on June 19, 2009 at his home. He was a native of Maryland before retiring to Florida.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. For his service he received a Purple Heart, 2 Bronze Stars, and United Nations Korean Citation. After his discharge, he was a glass cutter for 25 years, and a volunteer fireman for 30 years for the Bladensburg Fire Department Company 9. After retiring, he did volunteer work for the Department of Veterans Affairs and was a member of the Korean War Veterans Association.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret, of 58 years; Daughter and Son-in-Law, Linda and Robert Kyte of Mechanicsville, MD; Son and Daughter-in-Law, Samuel and Teresa Gray of Mt. Pleasant, SC; Son, William Gray of Mechanicsville, MD; Son, Dennis Gray of Clearwater, FL; Son, Edward Gray of Mt. Pleasant, SC; Grandchildren, Lori Stockman, Robert Kyte, Linda Simon and Shannon Coakley; Great Grandchildren, Madison and Brett Stockman, Skyler, Blake and Ella Coakley, Abbi Simon and Nathan Kyte.
A viewing will be held on Friday, June 26, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at GASCH'S FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 4739 Baltimore Avenue, Hyattsville, Maryland. A religious service will be held at Gasch's on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 11 a.m. followed by a procession in his honor passed the Bladensburg Fire Department. A burial service with full military honors will take place on Friday, July 17, 2009 at 9 a.m. at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.
