Elizabeth Bowers

On Tuesday, March 25, 2014 passed away. Born in Beaverdale, PA. August 19, 1917, to the late Samuel and Elizabeth Jamison. She was preceded in death by her husband William T. Bowers and four brothers ,MiIllard, Reynold, Henry and Samuel. Beloved mother of William T. Bowers, Jr., and Bonnie McArdle. She is also survived by grandchildren William C (Roisin) Bowers and Julie Burrell; great-grandchildren Eva and Evelyn Bowers and Jonathan and Haley Bast; brother, Robert (Jo Ann) Jamison and family and sister-in-law Judy Jamison and many nieces and nephews. She moved to Washington, DC in 1938 and married William Bowers on March 17, 1941. She later moved to Hyattsville, MD where they opened a jewelry store and later a real estate/insurance business - Bowers Bros., Inc., in Riverdale, MD. She loved entertaining, spending time with her family and friends, volunteering, gardening and reading. She was a member of Cheverly United Methodist Church where she volunteered until recent years. A life celebration service will be held on Saturday, March 29 at 11 am at the Cheverly United Methodist Church, 2801 Cheverly Ave., Cheverly, MD. Interment Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Cheverly United Methodist Church or Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Hwy., Pasadena, MD 21122
