Emma Louise Hackney, age 81 , entered into eternal peace in her home of 51 years, in New Carrollton, MD on Sunday, April 3, 2016. She was the beloved wife of the late WWII veteran, Wyatt "Tom" Hackney for 54 years and the loving, caring mother to their only child, the late Donna Marie Hackney, who passed at age 37. Born August 8, 1934 in D.C., she was the loved daughter to the late Wilson A. Moore and Effie L. Moore (Chisholm). She and her late husband were part of the Retired Member Club of IBEW, local 26, she was also a proud member of The Red Hat Society and The Homemakers Club. She is survived by her two brothers, James W. Moore and Robert L. Moore; two sisters, Patricia A. (Moore) Cartwright, brother in law, James F. Cartwright and Alice V. (Moore) Bobick and brother in law Donald R. Bobick. She was also known as "Aunt Em" to 5 nieces, 6 nephews; great aunt to 31 nieces and nephews and great great aunt to 13 nieces and nephews. She leaves behind loving neighbors and great friends for over 30 years, Denver and Jackie Sanders. She was a very loved, important part of our family and we will miss her now and forever. The family will receive friends at Gasch's Funeral Home, P.A., 4739 Baltimore Ave., Hyattsville, MD on Monday, April 18 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A service will be held on Tuesday, April 19 at 11 am at Gasch's. Interment Cheltenham Maryland Veterans Cemetery.
