Frank Baxter, Jr.

On April 22, 2022, age 87, in Fairfax, VA. Survived by his wife, Martha Kephart Baxter. Born February 8, 1935 in Washington, DC, he was a longtime resident of Berwyn Heights, MD. He attended Blair High School and Benjamin Franklin University. A tax accountant, he worked for several firms in DC prior to his establishing his own private practice where he worked until he retired. Frank was a faithful, kind, caring, loving husband and father. A longtime member of Ager Road Methodist Church, and an active leader of the Beltsville and Riverdale Lions Clubs. He enjoyed playing golf at the University of Maryland and Paint Branch and was a member of the Berwyn Heights Senior Center where he had many close friends. Deeply committed to his family, he was the sole caretaker of his wife until the summer of 2021 when he became ill. He and his wife then relocated to Fairfax, VA where they were cared for by their daughter.

Survived by his wife, Martha, of 56 years. Also survived by their children, Leigh Anne McGuire, of Fairfax, VA, and Eric “Ric” Ward (Karen) Baxter, of Cape Coral, FL; grandchildren Amanda K. McGuire of Chicago, IL, Ashleigh C, McGuire of Fairfax, VA, Carsyn E. Baxter of Washington DC, Ryan P. McGuire of Fairfax, VA, Kyle E. Baxter of Cape Coral, FL, Allison V. McGuire of Fairfax, VA; sister-in-law Mildred L. Kephart; nephew Christopher J. Kephart (Elizabeth), and niece Sarah L. Coleman (Leif). Preceded in death by his parents, Frank W. Baxter, Sr. and Irma Lee Lammers, brother-in-law Fenton J. “Bump” Kephart, Jr.

A visitation will be held at Gasch’s Funeral Home, P.A., 4739 Baltimore Avenue, Hyattsville, MD, on Friday, April 29, 2022 from 2pm until time of Memorial Service at 3pm.
