Frederick Lamont Fisher is survived by his wife Carrie of 61years. He is the father of Frederick II (Patricia) Fisher and Cherita Fisher. He has two brother-in-laws, Clarence (Mary) White and Curtiss (Helen) White. He has two grandchildren, Juanita (Kenneth) and Jocelyn and three great grandchildren, Joshua, Jessica and Jayceon. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.
He served as Deacon and Trustee at Berean Baptist Church. Later, he became a founder of Historic Berean Baptist Church. In 2011, he was licensed to preach.
During his four years in the Air Force, as a communication center specialist, he received The National Defense Service Award, Good Conduct, U.N. Service, and Korean Service Medals. After being discharged from the Air Force, he joined the Metropolitan Police Force where he served until his retirement.
After his retirement, he worked many years at GEICO where he received GEICO’s Excellent Service Award. In 1981, He received a National Junior Tennis League Appreciation Award. . In 1982, he received an award for Outstanding and Distinguished Service from the Metropolitan Boys and Girls Club Board of Directors.
Frederick was a fan of the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Indians. He enjoyed reading, music, and bowling.
Family will receive visitors on Friday, March 9th from 10:00 until the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at Historic Berean Baptist Church, 1400 Montana Avenue, N.E. Washington, DC. Interment will be at Maryland Veteran’s Cemetery in Crownsville, Maryland.
