On July 25, 2008, at her home in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, Mrs. Mallette passed away at the age of 86. She was born in Forestville, Virginia on December 2, 1921 to the late William C. and Effie P. Holler-Phillips. After her graduation from Strayer Business College in Washington, DC, she worked for the Federal Government as a secretary and later as a substitute teacher for Prince George's County Public Schools. She and her late husband, Raymond Mallette, were longtime residents of Riverdale, MD. Mrs. Mallette served her Parish family at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church with love and devotion. Many volunteer hours were dedicated to both her church and the Lutheran Home. She is the mother of Pamela Grace Rutherford of Berkeley Springs, WV, sister of Helen Fultz of Timberville, VA, and grandmother of Lance Crossman and Jesse Rutherford, both of Berkeley Springs, WV. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Marvin and Lawrence Phillips. Family and friends are invited to share in Grace's Life Celebration at Gasch's Funeral Home, P.A., 4739 Baltimore Ave., Hyattsville, MD on Wednesday, July 30, from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and on Thursday, July 31, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5820 Riverdale Road, Riverdale, Maryland 20737. Interment Fort Lincoln Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
