Helen Parong

Helen Dorothy Parong, 83, died on August 10, 2012 at Washington Hospital Center, in Washington, DC. Born on April 28, 1929, in Washington, DC. She was the daughter of the late Charles Percival Cumberland and the late Gertrude Marie Nix Cumberland.

She was the wife of the late Roberto Almirol Parong, whom she married on June 15, 1948. St. Francis Catholic Church, Washington, DC.

She is also preceded in death by her son, James Arnold Parong; daughter, Arelyn Marie Ballute; sister Gertrude Mary Kime; brothers, Conrad Charles Cumberland, William Francis Cumberland, Theodore Cumberland, Joseph Anthony Cumberland and Charles Percival Cumberland.

She is survived by son, Robert Anthony Parong (Linda) of La Plata, MD, daughters, Helen Diane Brower (Gregory) of Loganville, GA, Estrella Dolores Boggs of Parkersburg, WVA, Priscilla Nicolai of Myrtle Beach, SC, Mary Christine Stoner (Keith) of Beltsville, MD and Ruth Elaine Mora (Edward) of Broomes Island, MD, 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and sister Mary Ann Brandts of Silver Spring, MD.

Family will receive friends at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Prince Frederick, MD, on Thursday, August 16 from 10 am to 12 pm where Mass of Christian Burial with Father Daly officiating will be held at 12 pm.

Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery.
