Hilda Murphy

August 15, 1941 — July 21, 2020

Hilda Murphy, born August 15, 1941, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 21.  She was born to John and Anna Godfrey in Washington, DC. She was the beloved wife of the late George E. Murphy, Sr., and loving mother to Deborah Wickheiser (Timothy), Selbyville, DE, Sharon Lamot (Frankie), Jessup, MD, George Murphy, Jr. (Susan), Chesapeake Beach, MD, Joseph Murphy (Brenda), Appomattox, VA, and her nephew John Godfrey (Jackie), Tampa, FL.  She was also grandmother to Jennifer, Christina, Wayne, Emily, Christopher, Hannah, Lauren, and Gracie.  Great Grandmother to Madelyn, Jocelyn, Katherina, Saige, and soon to be great grandson.  Hilda was predeceased by siblings, John Godfrey, Gertrude Kershner, and James Godfrey.

Hilda was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and daughter.  She was a loving and dedicated mother who loved her family and opened her home to any family member in need.  This included her mother and father and nephew, John.  Due to her love for animals, she also opened her doors rescue animals. She was involved in all her children’s activities and was in many cases a second mom to their friends.  Some may know Hilda as a dedicated pet owner.  She has now joined her soulmate, in heaven which we are sure was waiting for her with open arms.  Hilda will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Family and friends may call at Gasch’s Funeral Home, P.A. 4739 Baltimore Avenue, Hyattsville, Maryland on Friday, July 31, 2020 from 10am-12pm.  A private service and interment will follow at Ft. Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, MD.
