On August 29, 2008, James "Jim" Hager Broy, 76, died of kidney cancer at the Morningside House in Ellicott City, MD. Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Faye Small Broy of Ellicott City, MD; three sisters, Elsie Walker of Alexandria, VA, Frances Roth of Greenbelt, MD, and Shirley Scott of Shadyside, MD; many loving nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, neighbors and in-laws. He was predeceased by his father Addison Warren Broy, and mother Virginia Broy Scott; brothers Arthur "Buddy" Broy and Howard "Howdie" Broy and sister Helen Patton. Jim served in the US Army from 1953-1955 with a tour of duty in Korea. Jim often spoke of his happy childhood filled with much laughter and care that his mother provided after his father's death. He followed suit by always being sure that this family and friends enjoyed many big happy meals together at his home in College Park, where he and his wife, Faye, lived for 52 years. Known to his family and others as "Uncle Jimmy", he learned to cook and bake after his retirement in 1997 from CVS where he worked for 30 years in the maintenance department. He appreciated the company of others, a good game of poker, and shared laughter especially. His absence will be felt by all of those who loved him so much.
