James Joseph Terry

June 14, 1950 — April 2, 2025

West Palm Beach

James Joseph Terry was born on June 14, 1950, in Washington DC and passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025 in Vero Beach, Florida. James was the second of ten children of the late Spurgeon D. Terry Jr. (of Monroeville, Alabama) and the late Jean (Tippett) Terry (of Washington DC) and the husband of the late Aurea Acosta, from Puerto Rico, whom he will be laid to rest with.

James is a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Germany in the 1980's before becoming a civil servant at Walter Reed Army Medical Hospital until his retirement.

James was an aficionado of music, beginning even before he first saw The Beatles in Atlantic City, New Jersey in 1964. He was an avid collector of many things: musical instruments, albums, stamps, coins, comic books and much more, and he was very happy to share stories, just like his dad did, of all of his travels and his hobbies. He was a lover of nature and everything organic. He loved gardening and took great pleasure in seeing things he planted come to life and provide healthy food-which he was always known for.

Above all, James was a big brother to eight younger siblings, Michael Anthony (Mary Frances), John Edward (deceased) (Gina), Mary Rosalee (Robert-deceased), Faye Marie (Richard), Margaret Jean (David), Kathleen Marie (Robert), Joan Esther, and Theresa Virginia, and best friends with his oldest brother, Robert Francis(deceased) (Rosie).

Although he and his wife had no children of their own, he had four Godchildren, Megan Middledorf Miller, Lauren Stevens Miller, Julie Rebecca Faber and Elizabeth Rose Faber, as well as many nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved and enjoyed spending time with. He also had many aunts, uncles and cousins, in both Maryland and Alabama.

We will all miss our dear brother, James, and we pray that he is reunited with all of our loved ones that have gone before us.

The family will hold a private service, with Military Honors, at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton, Maryland. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity in his honor. Until we see you again, James, may you Rest in Peace with our Lord and Savior.
