Jerry Ferguson
June 5, 1929 — August 12, 2017
Jerry W. Ferguson was born in 1929 in Big Stone Gap, Virginia to his parents, Dovie and Alfred Ferguson. He was an industrious young man and a hard worker. He delivered telegrams he carried under his cap for Western Union and later delivered groceries. Music was the soundtrack of his life. As a young man he was a professional musician, playing the electric rhythm guitar and singing country music. While playing in a club in Washington, DC, Jerry met his future wife, Patsy. The young couple married August 11, 1956 and had 3 boys, Brad, Alan and Ronald.
With a family to support, Jerry got a job with Electro Therm in Laurel, Maryland. For 29 years he machined parts for stoves, water heaters and more. He passed away on August 12, 2017 at his home in Mt. Rainier, Maryland.
He was the loving husband of 61 years to Patsy Ferguson and loving father of Brad, Alan, Ronald and his wife Thelma. He is also survived by his grandchildren Kenny, Brian, Mandy, Jesse, Sarah and Ronald, Jr. and great-grandchildren Leo, Myles, Brian, Jr., Sonya, DeShawn, Jayden, Jasmine, Jade, Jianni and Jordin.
Please join Jerry’s family and friends at Gasch’s Funeral Home, P.A., 4739 Baltimore Avenue, Hyattsville, MD for a visitation on Thursday, August 17, 2017 from 7 to 9 pm and for funeral services on Friday, August 18th at 11 am. Interment Fort Lincoln Cemetery.
