John C. Haw was called home to our Lord on 8/3/23. He was a proud Army veteran serving from 1964-1967. He was in the 4th infantry division in the Vietnam War serving as a combat engineer.
He worked at the printing press, was a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service, worked at the Hecht Company, a law firm and Verizon Help Desk before he retired. John loved kids, he was a Little League baseball coach in his younger days. He collected baseball cards, loved the Washington Redskins and Washington Nationals, he loved fishing, visiting the casino and crabs and beer.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Haw, Sr. and his mother, Mildred Haw. Surviving are his daughters, April Haw Massengill, and son-in-law, Eric Massengill, of Largo, Florida, and Vickey Haw Warner and son-in-law, Leigh Warner, of Eldersburg, Maryland. He loved his 4 grandchildren, Ryan Todd, Andrew Cook, Katie and Jamie Warner.
He is also survived by his sisters, Elizabeth Aiken, Mary Lou Nicholson, Sarah Keenan, and brothers, Donald Haw, Robert Haw and Thomas Haw, Jr. and a lot of nieces and nephews. John will be remembered for his kind nature and fun loving spirit.
Family and friends may visit Gasch’s Funeral Home for a visitation 8/9/23 from 2-4 and 6-8pm. A funeral service will be held at Gasch’s at 11 am on 8/10/23 with burial at Fort Lincoln cemetery in Bladensburg, Maryland.
