Joseph McCanna

Joseph Thomas McCanna, 74, of Hanover PA, formerly of Hyattsville MD, passed away peacefully at his home on June 9th, 2016. Born in Washington DC, he was the Son of the late Joseph L. and Helen B. McCanna. Joe was the loving husband of Mariellen McCanna, with whom he recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army from 1960-1963. Joe was a Washington DC Firefighter for 30 years and a Member of the Retired Firefighter's Association, Local #36. He was also a Member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Hanover and the McSherrystown Moose.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a Son, Bruce Joseph (Iris); 2 grandchildren; a Sister, Jeanne Everett (Walter); a Brother-in-law and 3 Sisters-in-law, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and many treasured friends.

Friends may visit at Gasch's Funeral Home, P.A., 4739 Baltimore Avenue, Hyattsville, MD, on Monday, June 13th, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm where a service will be held on Tuesday, June 14th at 11am. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, MD.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association in Hanover, PA, DeMatha Catholic High School, Hyattsville MD or the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Hanover PA.
