Joseph Eugene Wilkinson
On September 25, 2007 at the age of 86, Mr. Joseph Eugene Wilkinson passed away at the Riderwood Retirment Community in Renaissance Gardens. His wife, Virginia Gehauf Wilkinson, preceded him in death. He is survived by his children Robert and his wife Jeanne Lee Wilkinson, Christa Leckliter, Beth Wilkinson and her husband Nicholas Boonin and Kevin Wilkinson, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church, 11040 Baltimore Avenue, Beltsville, Maryland 20705. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Greenbelt Lions Club, PO Box 677, Greenbelt, Maryland 20768 or to St. John's Episcopal Church. Inurnment at Rose Hill Cemetery in Cumberland, Maryland, on Saturday, October 6 at 1:00 p.m.
A former resident of Greenbelt, Maryland, Mr. Wilkinson was a longtime member of the Greenbelt Lion's Club and is a former King Lion. In 1992 he iniated the Lion's Toy Drive that collects and distributes over 1,000 toys to local and hopitalized children .
