Karl Eugene Koles passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2016. He was a resident of Bowie, formerly of Bladensburg, Maryland. In 1926 Karl was born in Murphysboro, Illinois. Prior to joining the Navy in 1944 he worked for Denver & Salt Lake Railroad in Denver, Colorado. He proudly served his country as a Navy Yeoman Second Class in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre during World War II. Karl was an active long-time member of the Cheverly American Legion, Post 108. Karl always loved to travel and never missed an opportunity to explore the world. His beloved wife and traveling companion, June Dee Koles, passed away in 2000. Karl was the loving father of Peggy Gibson and her husband Wendell and the late Karla Koles Galindo. He was the cherished grandfather of Steven C. Gibson and his wife Laura, and Heather Gibson Bradford and her husband Dr. John Bradford. He is also survived by his wonderful great-grandchildren Candice Gibson Buckman and her husband Brandon, Charlotte and Harris Bradford and son-in-law Jose Galindo. Friends may call at Gasch's Funeral Home, P.A., 4739 Baltimore Avenue, Hyattsville, MD on Sunday, July 17 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm with American Legion Service at 7 pm. His funeral service will be held at Gasch's on Tuesday, July 19 at 10 am. Interment Fort Lincoln Cemetery.
