Kevin G. Caulfield

August 7, 1952 — March 15, 2025

Riverdale

Kevin George Caulfield was born on August 7, 1952 in Silver Spring, Maryland. He was raised with his 3 siblings in Queens, New York, during his formative years and moved back to Maryland in the early 70s. Kevin joined the Capitol Police in 1974, and worked as a federal police officer for 33 years before he retired in 2007.

Kevin was an avid sports player, and later umpired for baseball youth and refereed for football youth who actually made it to the big leagues. He played football with his childhood friends while growing up in Vleigh Place, Kew Gardens, New York, and his nickname was “Kong.” He was easily the strongest kid in the neighborhood, great football player and yet one of the nicest people you would ever meet. The kids on the block never had to worry about being bullied if Kevin was in the area.

Even though Kevin lived in Maryland and started and raised a family, he always kept in touch with his New York friends. And because of that, we had a 50-year reunion in 2016.

Kevin met and married Linda Maller while he was a police officer and Linda worked for the FBI. They had two children, Kristi and Michael. The family also had various dogs they would add to their family over the years, as Kevin and Linda were avid animal lovers.

Kevin had a heart as big as the outdoors, as his family would testify. He helped many of them with a place to stay for a while if that was what they needed. He was always in happy spirits and so much fun to be around.

Above all he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and was embraced by a large community of friends and neighbors.

Kevin was preceded in death by his wife, Linda, of 45 years (2022), as well as his brother, Barney, his mother, Peggy, his dad, Barney, his brother, Donny, and other family members.

Kevin is survived by his daughter, Kristi, who was also his caregiver, and his son Michael, Michael’s wife, Bridget, and granddaughters Kayla and Kylie. And his beloved dog, Baxter. He is also survived by his sister, Peggy (Steve), of Georgia, and her son, Wes (Diane), his sister, Donna, of New Jersey, and her children Richie (Chelly), Matt (Brittney) and Scarlett (Kyle), and his sister, Eileen, of Vermont, as well as Eileen’s children, Gene (Melissa) and Kevin (Kelsey), and grandchildren, for whom Kevin held a special place in his heart.

He will be sorely missed by those loved ones he leaves behind. Fly high, little brother, into the loving arms of your Savior, your wife, and those others who have gone before you. We will definitely meet again.
