On January 11, 2012, Lillian "Mickey" Cribben, a resident of Cheverly, Maryland for 48 years, and more recently Riderwood, in Silver Spring, Maryland, passed away at the age of 91.
She was the devoted wife for 54 years of the late Chester G. Cribben, the loving mother of Kathleen (John Elkins), Patricia (Dennis Connors) and Mary (Greg Murray), the grandmother of Dayna (Al Lindsey) and Kelly (Rich Burgoyne), the great grandmother of Derick, Kara, Krista, Kerri, Zachary, Katie and Joseph, and the great-great grandmother of Caiden and Makayla. She is also survived by her sister Bernadine Smith in FL, her brother in law, John O'Connell in FL, and numerous nieces and nephews.
As a young woman, she left her Pennsylvania home and family to pursue a government career in Washington, DC, during WW II. There she met and married her husband from Chicago. While raising her family, Lillian's many handcraft and sewing talents were perfected. She was an expert seamstress and upholsterer, and made beautiful crocheted afghans and hooked rugs. In addition to her devotion to family, she also enjoyed traveling, theater and politics. She will be remembered for her keen sense of humor, outgoing personality, and her genuinely kind heart.
Her family and friends will gather in the Chapel at Riderwood Village, Gracefield Road, Silver Spring, on Friday, January 20, 2012, at 1 PM for her Requiem Mass. The Cribben family is especially grateful for the kind and loving care extended by the staff of Oak Grove 1.
