Lydia Cecchetti, 81, died on Wednesday, August 24, due to complications from congestive heart failure. She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Rose Cecchetti, and is survived by siblings Laura (Wright) Bueche; Ralph Cecchetti (Delores); Sr. Clelia Cecchetti, SP; George Cecchetti (Betsy); and Richard Cecchetti (Celeste); and loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Lydia was born in Brooklyn, NY, on December 2, 1934 and was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in College Park, Maryland, since 1946. Operatically trained, Lydia performed with the Friday Morning Music Club and University of Maryland Chorus, and had auditioned for Ted Mack's Amateur Hour.
The Mass for Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church at 4902 Berwyn Road, College Park, MD 20740, on Thursday, September 1st, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Bladensburg, Maryland, following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
