Margaret F. Raff, 95, of Bladensburg, MD, passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at home following a long illness. Born October 31, 1916 in Boston, Mass. She was the daughter of the late William and Margaret Lyons Carroll. Margaret was a nurse for PG Hospital and retired from the PG Health Department. She volunteered as a nurse for the U.S. Army in Boston during WWII where she met her husband, George A. Raff. In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Raff. Survivors include a son, George P. Raff, and his wife, Penny, of Hughesville, MD; a daughter, Margaret Ann Shirey, and her husband, Wolfgang Shirey, of Grand Junction, TN; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Friends may call at GASCH'S FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 4739 Baltimore Avenue, Hyattsville, MD on Monday, June 4, 2012 from 2 to 4pm where services will be held on Tuesday, June 5th at 12pm. Interment Fort Lincoln Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401.
