On Thursday, February 11, 2010, a beloved father, educator and basketball coach passed away, while surrounded by his family. While Armstrong and his wife of 52 years, Annie, raised their family, Coach Armstrong led his basketball team at McKinley Tech. to a superior position in high school basketball. He served his country in the Army during the Korean War. He graduated from the universities of North Carolina Central, a historically Black college in Durham, NC and obtained a Master's Degree in education from George Washington. A lifetime member of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity, he made time for many hobbies. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Annie C. Armstrong, his beloved children Chip Armstrong, Jenice Armstrong Turner and her husband Cameron, Cheryl Armstrong Capers and her husband, Dr. Quinn Capers IV, Carolyn and Marilyn Armstrong, siblings, Charles Armstrong, Louise Powell and Georgia Bass, five grandchildren and many loving family members. Please honor us with your presence at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1029 Monroe St. NE, Washington, DC 20017 on Saturday, February 20 from 9:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment Fort Lincoln Cemetery.
