Mert Torres

With heavy hearts the Torres family announces the passing of Mert on July 1st, 2016 at 11:05am, at her home in Hyattsville, MD. Mert was the devoted wife of Jose R. Torres for 45 years, loving mother of Tina Smith, Rusty Smith, Jose R. Torres, Jr., and Emily Morrison. Grandmother of Kristina Goff, Brandon Goff, Joseph Hickerson, Ashley Hickerson, Cynthia Thomas, Riah Anglero-Thomas, and James Schleicher. Great Grandmother to Mikaela Goff, Bryce Goff and expected Hickerson Great-Grandchild in January 2017. Mert is survived by her sisters, Gail Hamilton and Pamela Madden, as well as Pamela's children, Jeffery Reed and Ashley Lathroum and Ashley's children, Marlyne, Raquel and Brook Romaros. Mert was predeceased by her loving mother, Cora Mae Madden. Family and friends will be received at Gasch's Funeral Home, P.A. (4739 Baltimore Avenue, Hyattsville, MD 20781) for a memorial service on Wednesday, July 6th from 2:00 to 4:00pm until memorial service at 4:00pm conducted by Henry Huff II of Solid Rock Baptist Church of Hughesville, MD.
