Michael, beloved son of Jean and Edward Cieslak, passed on the morning of December 27, 2024.
Born and raised in the nation's capital, Washington, DC, Mike spent his formative years attending St. Peter School and St. John's College High School. After his early years, his work as an ironworker and rigger gave him the opportunity to travel and live beyond the district's borders for some time before returning to his roots.
Known to many of his friends as "Big Byrd," Mike was an avid DC sports fan who loved attending games whenever he could. It was rare to see him without a jacket, jersey, or hat displaying one of his favorite teams. Mike had an impact on everyone he encountered, and did his best to live life to the fullest. He had the unique ability to befriend anyone he met, and would walk into any room, immediately lighting it up with his smile and his humor.
Michael is survived by his parents, Edward and Jean Cieslak of Washington, DC; his brothers Christian (Sarah) Cieslak of Severna Park, MD, along with their children, Jaxon and Emma; and Thomas Cieslak of Washington, DC. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Michael, you left us far too soon. May you continue to bring smiles to the angels around you.
A repast will follow immediately after the burial. The location will be announced at the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Michael’s honor to Mental Health of America (https://www.mhanational.org)
