Mildred Ada Carroll passed away peacefully on October 23rd, 2020, at home surrounded by her family. Born May 24th, 1920, the eighth child of Julia Ada (Pegg) and Edward Leo Ridgell in St. Mary’s County, MD. She married Jerry Carroll in 1940, moved to DC, and began their family. They moved to Hyattsville in 1959 and became active members in St. Jerome’s parish, including the the Altar Society, Ladies of Charity, and founding members of St. Jerome’s Boutique and Cafe. Jerry predeceased her in 1996.
Mildred and Jerry were loving parents to 14 children: Mary Mildred (Bernard) Ridgell, Jay (Bonnie), Anna Lee Whiteman, Vincent (Charlotte), John (Sharon), Janet (Jimmy) Robinson, Sue Ellen (David) Dewey, Tom (Terry), Margie (Jimmy) Cooper, Kevin (April), Rick, Chris (Jean), Juliana (Steve) Powers, and Laurie (Bobby) Johnson. Grandmommy and GGmom will be missed by many grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren.
Family and friends may call at St. Jerome's Catholic Church, 5205 43rd Avenue, Hyattsville, MD on Thursday, October 29th from 5 to 8 pm and on Friday, October 30th from 10 a.m. till time of Mass at 11 a.m. Burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. Jerome’s Catholic Church or Hospice of The Chesapeake.
