Nancy Elaine Walton, 72, entered into eternal rest on November 22, 2014 among family at Duke University Hospital. The daughter of Clerc Wesley Hawk and Lillian L. Rogers Hawk, she was born on August 28, 1942 in Washington, D.C. and raised in Mount Rainier, Maryland. She graduated from Northwestern High School in Hyattsville, MD in 1961, and continued her education at Montgomery College in Rockville, MD as a drama major. She lived for many years in Rockville, Germantown, Gaithersburg, and White Sands, MD; in Brandenburg, KY; and was most recently a resident of Chapel Hill North Carolina.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her second husband of 18 years, Philip Lewis Walton, Sr.
Survived by children: Tania René Arroyo Jope & husband Nicholas Jope; Christian Conrad Salvador Arroyo & wife Melissa Anne Blanchard Arroyo; Tyla Yvette Arroyo Olson & husband Nick P. Olson; brother Robert Wesley Hawk & sister-in-law Mary Ann Hawk; first husband of 17 years, Ralph Salvador Arroyo; sister-in-law Judy Foulke & husband Clark Foulke; sister-in-law Clara Goss & husband Fern Goss.
She is also survived by grandchildren: Emma Kate Arroyo; Bennett Salvador Arroyo; Casey Lee Olson; Katie Reneé Olson; Sophia Brynn Jope; Ryan Nicholas Jope; William Randy Walton; Samantha Marie Walton Walters; Alexis Michelle Walton Peluso; nieces and nephews: Bobby Hawk, Ricky Hawk, John Hawk, Jimmy Hawk, Terri Ann Hawk Paolucci, and Joe Hawk; David Foulke, Tommy Foulke, Clark Foulke; Judy Goss, Glen Goss; and many great-nieces, great-nephews and great-step-grandchildren.
In her younger years she was awarded a Beauty Pageant Queen trophy, she enjoyed singing at various venues, she had a taste for fine dining, and she loved traveling. In her professional career, she worked for the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, MD for many years, at the Gaithersburg Gazette in MD, and worked caring for young children and adults with special needs in KY & NC. She loved helping others, had a wonderful sense of humor and collected many photos and keepsakes. She was very active in her church and had a love for animals. She most enjoyed spending time with her family, vacationing at the beach at Ocean City, MD and at the Outer Banks in North Carolina.
A Memorial service will be held 11:00 am this Saturday, December 6th at Gasch's Funeral Home, 4739 Baltimore Ave., Hyattsville, MD. Reception to follow at Three Brothers Restaurant 4521 Kenilworth Avenue, Bladensburg, MD.
