Mark Powers, nieces and nephews: Jeong Ho Kim, Yun A Jeong Jang, Yun A Jang, and Ju Ho Kim.

Patti had a generous, loving way about her, welcoming all into her home – even Cookie, the stray cat. Dinner time was a special time in Patti’s home. At 5 PM the bottle would pop open and warm laughter filled the house along with aromas of oven fried chicken and mac n’ cheese. You know that happy, full belly, good meal, and great company type of feeling you get on the holidays? Well, that was every day in Patti’s home. Her home was often the neighborhood hangout – the “cool house”, a safe place, always filled with snacks. Anyone who was over around dinner time was always welcomed to stay, even if we had to shrink portions to make an extra plate. She was a true giver.

Those who were part of her 30+ year dedication to Doctor’s Community Hospital were her second family. They helped her through thick and thin, life’s ups and downs, and even crappy situations. Like that one time someone pooped on her shoes and she came home with them in a plastic bag.

We know she will live on with us through the beautiful things in everyday life she cherished: sunsets, finding animals in the clouds, seashells, roses, tacos, bourbon, and genuine laughter.

Advice to remember – if you were like Patti – if you ever need a home laxative, drink some milk.
