Raúl A. Guerra, son of the late Ezequiel Guerra and Carmelina Lemus, was born on April 30, 1960, in Ipala, Guatemala. He departed this world on December 20, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his former wife and mother of his children, Marizabel; his beloved children: Stephanie, Natalie, Christopher, and Matthew; grandchildren: Gianna, Jonathan, and Joshua; and siblings (Clara, Adesmo, Herminia, Israel, and Carlos). Raúl was a devout Catholic and was a dedicated member of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hyattsville, MD.
A kind and loving soul, Raúl volunteered his time as a Sunday usher at St. Mark's for over 20 years, finding solace in his faith. He was a jack-of-all-trades, and although a man of very little words, he had a huge, caring heart. Raúl found satisfaction helping the poor, fixing cars and things around the house, playing the organ, listening to music, and staying on top of the news around the world. In his professional life, Raúl worked as a supervisory mechanic before retiring after over 30 years of service. His knowledge and expertise were highly valued, and he received various awards and medals for his tenacity. Raúl demonstrated loyalty to his colleagues and friends which will be deeply missed.
Raúl's legacy is marked not only by his dedication to family, faith, and work, but also by the love he shared with those around him. In honoring his memory, the family invites friends and loved ones to Gasch's Funeral Home, P.A. in Hyattsville, MD on Thursday December 28, 2023 from 4pm-8pm EST.
