Raymond Henry Nelson

Raymond Henry Nelson, age 82, passed away peacefully at his home in Edgewater, MD, on Monday, September 2nd. Ray was a hard-working man with a strong work ethic who worked in the automotive industry for 45 years. He was a lifetime member of the Woodland Beach Volunteer Fire Department. He loved gardening and shared his abundance of home grown produce with his friends, neighbors and family. An Edgewater resident of 75 years, he liked to drive through the neighborhood chatting with neighbors and hanging out with his best friend, Brett Severson. Ray and Frances (Ray’s late first wife) loved to fish when they were staying at their vacation home in Ocean City. Ray was known for tearing up the dance floor when given the opportunity.

Proceeded in death by his first wife, Frances Lee Nelson. He is survived by his children, William (Karen) George, Laura Nelson and Robert (Michelle) Nelson; grandchildren, Jake Nelson (Kate Carpino), Julia Nelson (Peter Lombardo), Stephen Stanton (Megan Stanton), Raymond George and Elizabeth George. 

Ray was the loving husband to his wife of 31 years, Janet Nelson. Also survived by Janet’s daughters, Michele Kirby and her children and grandchildren, Denise Preschel and her children and grandchildren, and Sharon DiMaggio, Sharon’s children, Phillip DiMaggio, Niki DiMaggio and her daughters, Daenerys (Dae) and Helena Damron and Andrew (Jessica) DiMaggio, and Ray’s two sisters, Millie Bowers and Priscilla Hibberd.

 Honoring Ray’s wishes, no viewing or service will be held.
