Robert Miller

On December 31, 2007, at the Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke, Rapids, NC. Mr. Miller is survived by his wife Janet "Jan" Miller, aunts Marlene Kline and Nina Miller of Cumberland, MD, nieces Darlene Venegass of Macon, NC, Debbie Taylor of Friendship, MD, and Wendy Cameron of Edgewater, MD, and a host of other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Kate (nee Moore) Miller, both lifelong residents of Cumberland, MD.

Mr. Miller was born in Cumberland, MD, on January 30, 1947. He worked at the Holiday Inn as a Bouncer for over 15 years. When he worked for the security division of the Celanese Corporation, he rescued three men from the building, after a deadly explosion. For a brief time, he worked for Alleghany Community College in security. He moved to Hyattsville, MD, in 1992. He took a position as the Facilities Manager for the Salvation Army and retired in 2003.

As a young man, he enjoyed hunting and fishing in Cumberland, MD, and Fort Ashby, WVA. After retirement he could be found in Lake Gaston, NC, on his boat, fishing. Mr. Miller was passionate about the Washington Redskins Football Team and remained a devoted fan his entire life.
