Roberta "Darlene" Elrod, age 66, of Bladensburg, MD passed away on Monday, July 25, 2011, at the Prince George's Hospital, following a lengthy battle with heart disease.
Darlene was a native of Johnson City, TN but had lived most of her life in Bladensburg. She is survived by her husband, Warren Elrod of home; daughter and son-in-law, Sherry & Edgar Souder of Laurel, MD; son & daughter-in-law, Terry & Cathy Palmer of Millersville, MD; step-son & wife, Greg & Angie Elrod of Berryville, VA; sister, Sue Greer and brother, Fred Higgins, both of Jonesborough, TN; 5 grandchildren, Tyler, Taylor, & Jake Palmer; Crystal Wolfrey-Heath, and Michael Wolfrey as well as two great-grandchildren, Devon & Alyssa Cotto.
It was Darlene's wishes to be cremated. In lieu of flowers, the family would request that monetary donations be made to her brother-in-law, Richard Greer, who is rehabilitating from a recent stroke. Donations may be addressed/mailed to Keith Greer-Richard Greer Medical Expense Fund, P.O. Box 1596, Johnson City, TN 37601.
