Ronald F. Day, of College Park, Maryland, passed away on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Washington Adventist Hospital, Takoma Park, MD. He was born October 8, 1932 in Sunbury, PA, the son of the late Guy and Edna Day. On October 17, 1953, He married Irene (Knouse) Day. He was a 1950 graduate of Selinsgrove High School.
He joined the Navy in June 1950 and served for 3 years. After being discharged, Ronnie, his Dad, Guy, and brother Ed, ran a gas station in Hummels Wharf, PA. He joined the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, DC in November 1958, and served until August 1986. His favorite hobby was hunting. In addition to his wife, Irene, of 56 years, he is survived by 1 daughter and 3 sons. Ronnie, Jr., his wife, Cindy and their 3 kids, Andrew, Amber, and Ryan, Jan, her husband Tory, and their 3 kids, Angelo Jr., Becky, Vinnie and grandson, AJ., Kenny, his wife, Teri, and their daughter, Mandy, Bobby, his wife Audrey, and their 2 kids, Alec and Tori. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Guy Day III and Richard Day. Visitors will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 8, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 6905 Greenbelt Road, Greenbelt, MD. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church by Pastor Stephen Mentz. Burial will be held in Selinsgrove, PA on Thursday, June 10, 2010.
