Russell Joines

On Thursday, June 27, 2019, Russell Frank Joines, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 72.

Russell was born December 3, 1946 at Sibley Hospital in Washington, DC to Frank and Hazel Joines. Russell served in the US Army and was a Vietnam Veteran.  He was a member of the Steamfitters Local 602 for more than fifty years and was very respected in his trade.

On October 26, 1968 he married Mary Magana. They moved to Cheverly, Maryland in 1971 and raised three daughters; Danielle, Kelly and Jennifer. Russell enjoyed spending time with family, hunting, visiting relatives in Sparta, NC and watching the car races.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Hazel Joines. He is survived by his wife, Mary Joines; three daughters, Danielle (Keith) Wilson, Kelly Joines and Jennifer Joines; grandchildren Meredith Wilson, Emily Hatcher, Ryan Wilson, Andrew Canada, Kari Sheridan, Steven Shriver Jr., great grandson Dominik Shriver and brother William T. (Frances) Joines along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be a viewing at Gasch’s Funeral Home, P.A., 4739 Baltimore Avenue, Hyattsville, Maryland on July 3, 2019 from 12-4 pm.  He will be laid to rest at the Joines Family Cemetery in Whitehead, NC on July 5, 2019.
