Ruth Vaughan

Ruth Cleary Vaughan, age 99, passed away on August 28, 2020.  Beloved wife of the late Lewis E. Vaughan; loving mother of David L. Vaughan and Raymond G. (Kim Love) Vaughan.   Grandmother of Christopher Vaughan and Jennifer (Brandon) Lewis.   Great Grandmother of Dante, Christopher Jr. and Kayden.

Ruth was born to Raymond and Net Cleary in Yadkinville, NC.  She loved basketball, remembering fondly her days as a high school and college player.  Ruth and Lewis were married in Yadkinville in 1946.  By 1948, they moved to their residence in Bladensburg, MD, where they raised their two children.

In 1964, Ruth began a 24-year career as a secretary at Rogers Heights Elementary School, where she became a pillar of that institution.  Parents, children, teachers and staff received the benefit of her knowledge and wisdom during her time there.

Ruth and Lew enjoyed traveling together in their retirement until Lew’s passing in 2002.  Since then, Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

A private graveside service will be held.
