On Wednesday, October 26th, Sidney "Moe" Schulman 94, of Hyattsville, MD passed away peacefully after a short illness.
Moe was born in Washington, DC on January 21, 1922 and was a lifelong Washingtonian. He attended Eastern High School in Washington DC where he played Basketball and Football. Moe then went on to attend George Washington University and played basketball for them, only to be interrupted by World War II, where he served in the US Navy during the South Pacific campaign. Upon returning from the war, Moe played again for the Colonials in 1946. Moe went on to work for the DC Government as a Recreation Specialist before retiring in 1974. He had a special love for all Washington sports teams, particularly the Redskins, Capitals, Nationals, and Wizards. He also enjoyed attending sporting events at the University of Maryland and was a fixture at the Terps women's basketball games for many years.
Moe was predeceased by his wife Dorothy (McDonough) Schulman, and is survived by his daughter Claire Green, grandchildren Patrick, Douglas, and Daniel Green; and great-grandchildren Justin, Kaeleigh, Taylor, Brandon, Shane, and Conor. He will be interred at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham, MD in a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, donations to one of his favorite charities would be appreciated: Make-A-Wish Foundation, Special Olympics, National Foundation for Cancer Research, Ronald McDonald House, and the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center.
