On November 14, 2007, Stanley Dadzelle Shelton, Jr. of Brentwood, MD passed away quietly at home. Stanley leaves to mourn his wife of 59 years, Edith Jean; his children Jerome Shelton (Violet Joy), Jean Shelton, Jan Alexander and Jayne Lindo (Robert); in-laws Martha Bragg, Andrew (Thelma) Lawe, Gretchen Lofland, Bernard Turner, Eleanor Lawe-Johnson, and Rene Lawe; eight grandchildren, William (Tammy) Alexander, III and Aaron Alexander; Darius (Deldre) Shelton, Danielle Shelton, Nicole, Krystal and Stephanie Lindo; devoted ex-son-in-law, William L. Alexander, Jr.; one great-grandchild, Sydney Shelton; a host of nieces, nephews and a brother, William Holt.

Stanley was born February 10, 1930 in Grindstone, PA to Helen Olsen Fuller and Stanley D. Shelton, Sr. The family migrated to Washington, DC where he attended Armstrong High School. He joined the U.S. Army in 1954 and gave 20 years of service in the infantry obtaining the rank of 1st Sergeant. His medals included the Purple Heart and two (2) Silver Stars for service during two tours of duty in Korea and two tours of duty in Viet Nam. After retiring from military service, Stanley worked ten years for the Washington Post, as a distributor in the Mt. Pleasant area of Washington, DC.

Family will receive friends at Capital Christian Fellowship, 10411 Greenbelt Road, Lanham, MD 20706. Viewing is at 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday, November 19. Services commence at 11 a.m. Interment will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2007 at Arlington National Cemetery at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, we would hope donations be made in his name to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society - National Capital Chapter.
