Stanley John Turonis was called to heaven on the 29th of January 2022. Stanley was born on the 8th of February 1939 in Carbondale, PA to Jane Roman Turonis and Stanley Turonis.
Stanley passed away peacefully in his son Stanley John Turonis III home, surrounded by his sons Stanley Turonis and Shawn Turonis and his daughter in-laws Tonya Turonis and Kelly Turonis, those whom he held dear.
Stanley was survived by his son’s Shawn Turonis and Stanley Turonis III and his daughter in-laws Tonya Turonis and Kelly Turonis; his grandchildren Shawn Turonis, Ashley Turonis, Chance Turonis, and Stanley Turonis IV and great grandchildren Weston Tarantino, Myles Tarantino. He was preceded in death by his step son Billy Yakely Jr. and former wife Jeanne Stackhouse Turonis.
Stanley joined the Washington D.C Metropolitan Police Department and served with the Special Operations Division - Motor 11, where he made his family proud and his accomplishments were grand. He was privileged to assist with providing security and motorcade support of transporting numerous U.S presidents and dignitaries from around the world, throughout the Washington D.C. area. Beyond working, Stanley enjoyed working on cars, spending time with his friends at the P.G. Plaza and grabbing a bite to eat at McDonalds. Stanley was known by several names, Grandpa, Pop, Stanley, and Nanny. All that knew Stanley, were fond of his kindness and sense of humor. He was treasured and will be missed by many.
Two viewings will be held for Stanley Turonis, on the 3rd of February from 1 to 3 pm and 5 to 7 pm at Gasch’s Funeral Home, P.A. located at 4739 Baltimore Ave., Hyattsville, MD 20781.
Stanley will then make the journey to his hometown of Carbondale, PA where there will be a memorial service and blessing held on the 5th of February from 9am to 10:30am at Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home located at 55 Lincoln Ave, Carbondale, PA 18407.
Following, Stanley will be laid to rest at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Cemetery – Carbondale, PA next to his mother, father and brother.
