On Tuesday December 3, 2013, Susan Leigh Richardson passed away at the age of 67. Susie was born in Ainsworth Nebraska on August 18, 1946 to Glenn E. and Marjorie Richardson. She graduated from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, with a Master's Degree in Speech Communication. In 1972 she moved to College Park Maryland where she was a professor at Prince George's Community College (P.G.C.C) for 37 years, and 24 years as an adjunct professor at Catholic University. Among her professional contributions she co-authored a textbook about multi-cultural communication, coached the P.G.C.C. competitive speech team, and received the 2002 Faculty Excellence Award at Prince George's Community College. After retirement in 2011, she volunteered at The Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County, which she humorously referred to as the "cat house." She is survived by her husband, "Coach Opp" Elliott Oppenheim, daughter Meaghan Richardson Doyle and future son-in-law Joe Herb, son Brendan Leahy Doyle and daughter in-law Sandra Keach Doyle, her sister Sara Sup and husband Craig, her cat Lovie, step-children, and grandchildren, former husband Terrence Doyle, the Doyle, Rebstock, and Oppenheim families, nieces, nephews, and countless friends and family that will miss her dearly. At Gasch's Funeral Home, Sunday, December 8, 2013 visitation will be held from 12:30-2:00 with a brief memorial service from 2:00-2:30. Memorial contributions can be made out to P.G.C.C.
